The internet dates back to the 1950s and 60s, though few of us knew about it then, as it was part of the secretive American defence system. The internet was created in 1969 by the US Department of Defense as a means of communication should they be attacked by Russia.Some say that development started in 1957 already, when the Soviet Union launched Sputnik 1, the first satellite. The World Wide Web, on the other hand, was created by an Englishman named Tim Berners-Lee in Switzerland in 1989.
Why do I need internet access?
Today internet is used for almost anything from banking to school projects, research and most business transactions. Another use for the internet as we know it today is as as source of communication. In this we see a large drive towards community chat rooms such as Facebook, Skype, Google Chat, and MSN to name but a few.
